Bolton Landing Brewing Company
Bolton Landing Brewing Company was in need of a fill-in-the-blank crowler label design. We combined their logo and map background that is also used on the tap labels with a blue, green and white color palette that we knew would work for all their brews.
Tap label design: Mainstays
We wanted to make sure to create a tap label system that was designed for longevity, so that any new styles would be able to fit seamlessly with the existing beers. That involved choosing complimentary fonts and an expansive color palette. We also tied in the lake theme by implementing a background map. We absolutely love the tap handle design they came up with (including the nautical rope!) and were happy we could add to the project. Look for these brews on a tap line near you!
Tap Label Design: Seasonal
While we stuck with the map and lake theme with all their mainstay beers, we wanted their seasonal beers on tap to really pop on the tap handles. Bright colors and fun illustrations allow these tap handles to stand out, while the use of the same font ties them in with the mainstays and keeps the brand consistent.
Merchandise design & Secondary marks
Bolton Landing Brewing Company Owner and President Brendan Murnane had already nailed down a killer brand for his fledgling company before we started working together, but asked us to help create artwork to extend the brand system for use on signage, merchandise, and other various applications. He wanted to incorporate the iconic Great Blue Heron from the logo into a lakeside vista, looking from Bolton towards the narrows. Dome Island and a gradient sky were must-haves for the illustration. After several initial concepts and colorways, we landed on two palettes representing the beautiful landscape of the lake through changing light and seasons. The textured background and hard gradient sky give the artwork a worn-in, vintage feel that fits the brand like a favorite flannel. We're excited to be working with Brendan and BLBC on more beery projects in the future. So keep an eye out for those, too. Cheers!
