Capital District Transportation Committee

branding • strategy • print layout

The Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC) is diligently working on creating a sprawling multi-use trail system that connects the many communities and cities throughout the Capital District. We were selected, along with a team of planners and engineers, to develop a plan to make it happen.

Branding

Our first task was to create a brand and marketing strategy for this network of trails. We started with a survey to gather input from stakeholders, community leaders and the general public. We presented five name and logo concepts in a series of public forums throughout the Capital District. From there, we gathered feedback, made edits and narrowed it down to a single name and logo. The result was a complete brand system, including alternate lock-ups, application-specific artwork, a brand guidelines document, and a marketing strategy for the brand roll out.

Trails Plan

While we were working on the brand and marketing strategy, the rest of the team of planners and engineers were working on the trails plan itself. When all the plans were done, we created a 100+ page piece that rolled out the entire plan.

Signage

Because signage is such an important function and branding opportunity for any trail network, we created signage, displays and usage guidelines.

Sponsorship Materials

So the plan was done, what’s next? Gotta get that funding! We created a sponsorship piece that offered up sponsorship opportunities for residents and companies.
